Some apps (short for applications) come preinstalled on your iPhone, such as Contacts and Videos. But you can choose from a world of other apps out there for your iPhone, some for free (such as iBooks) and some for a price (typically, from 99 cents to about $10, though some can top out at $90 or more).

Apps range from games to financial tools like loan calculators to apps that help you when you are planning or taking a trip.

In this chapter, I suggest some apps you might want to check out and explain how to use the App Store feature of iPhone to find, purchase, and download apps.

Access the App Store by tapping the App Store icon on the Home screen. Then tap the Search button at the bottom of the screen and enter an app name or other descriptive text. Suggested matches are listed. Tap one to see more information about it.
