In this Part of Tens chapter, I show you some Web sites that present specific tips. Additionally, I give you some tips and shortcuts that I find helpful.

While I furnish this information to assist in using the iPhone camera, these techniques are often useful in any kind of photography. Some of these hints and tips may be ones you already know and use. Hopefully, a few will present a new perspective on an old problem and help you more fully enjoy your iPhone photography.

If It Doesn't Look Right, Get Closer

One simple tip to help you get better photos to start with is to get close to your subject. This technique is true no matter what camera you're using. It's just perhaps more true with something like the iPhone.

Of course, sometimes, getting physically closer to your subject is impossible, if not downright dangerous. In Chapter 8, I discuss the difference between digital and optical zoom and that if you must use digital zooming, you're often better off using software, such as iPhoto, after the photo is captured. If you're fortunate enough to have an optical zoom lens for your iPhone (such as the ones I describe in Chapter 8), by all means use them. For example, if you're shooting at the zoo, zoom in on that monkey's face instead of always ...
