Chapter 3. iPod Basics
When Apple introduced the iPod in October of 2001, it made it possible for music lovers everywhere to store their song collections on a device that fit in the palm of their hand, and to listen to that collection while on the go.
Not content to stop there, Apple expanded the iPod's capabilities to store and display video. Indeed, the current generation of iPods can store as much as 80GB of content — which means it can hold as many as 20,000 songs, 25,000 photos, 100 hours of video, or any combination thereof. The device's vibrant display makes viewing this content a pleasure, and its extended battery life — 20 hours of audio or 6 hours of video — ensures that your iPod does not run out of charge at a climactic moment.
