Chapter 5Using the iTunes Software

The iPod is a great little portable music player—once it’s loaded up with music. The job of managing the music on your iPod is handled by the iTunes software program that runs on both the Windows and Mac platforms. The iTunes software organizes all the digital media on your PC, facilitates the ripping of music from CD and the burning of music to CD, manages the downloading of music and videos from Apple’s iTunes Store, and handles the transfer of digital media files from your PC to your iPod. It’s all accomplished with easy-to-use operation and a very elegant interface.

To manage the music, photos, and videos on your iPod, therefore, you have to master the iTunes software. Fortunately, it’s easy to do.
