What do you sketch if someone asks you to draw a picture of a computer system? Do you draw a desktop computer or a laptop? Or do you draw a mobile phone or microwave oven? Most of us still imagine a computer system as looking like a monitor and keyboard-type computer that you can immediately recognize as being a computer. But the world has been changing.

Computers are fading into the other products, devices, and appliances that are all around us. Many believe that eventually computers will be all but invisible. They will be completely embedded in those other devices, with nothing left that looks like today’s image of a computer.
