4. An Overview of iSCSI

iSCSI is a transport protocol that carries SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) commands from host computer systems (referred to as initiator systems) to target devices. To understand how this is done, we need first to understand the system structure behind SCSI command creation and delivery. (See Figure 4-1 for an iSCSI version of this structure.)
