This chapter details the management of iSCSI sessions. Once again, skip ahead to the Chapter Summary if you don't want an in-depth treatment of this subject.
The iSCSI session endpoints are dynamically created constructs, which conceptually map to a SCSI entity known as a “SCSI port.” The SCSI port has a variant for each end, an initiator SCSI port and a target SCSI port. To show this endpoint relationship to both iSCSI and SCSI, I will often call the endpoints of an iSCSI session the iSCSI (SCSI) initiator port and the iSCSI (SCSI) target port.
