So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Working Effectively With Subject Matter Experts
In the daily challenges of working as an instructional designer, the one ever-present resource in most design projects is the subject matter expert (SME). This is the individual or group of folks who provide the content knowledge while also assisting in numerous other nondesign functions related to project content. While some projects are so basic that the content knowledge is resident in a designer or easily available without the need for an outside expert, the practice of high-level instructional design and the inherent complexity of most content areas requires the assistance of SMEs.
