In Chapter 8, “A Communications Framework,” you learned about the OSI model. The Data-Link layer includes the physical network hardware and transmits data onto the network. The two layers of this model that are responsible for moving data over an internetwork are the Network and Transport layers.
The Network layer of the OSI model determines the best route that a packet should take when it needs to be delivered over an internetwork. The Transport layer is primarily responsible for reliable data delivery.
