BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER

Change is ever present in today's world. This text has presented several independent forces that contribute to the importance and relevance of technology controls and safeguards. These forces stem from both contractual and regulated pressures and include natural business perseverance motivations. Businesses are just beginning to grasp the implications of a globalized marketplace that includes access to larger numbers of customers, partners, and competitors. The ability to redefine business structures by leveraging these international resources allows companies to outsource and create joint partnerships that were not possible a decade ago.

Globalization has also expanded the responsibilities of companies in regard to local cultures and laws. The operation of businesses abroad is not new, but the depth of this expansion into international markets is unique. Today companies, regardless of size, can deliver services and products to consumers around the world. Many, however, are not initially prepared for the vast differences in culture and legal practices. Governments have committed resources to redefining their laws in order to allow businesses to fit into this new structure.
