Let’s look at some theories about organisational change, starting with the ‘traditional’ picture where Strategy (A1) sits at the apex and then explain how we think IT4B can help.
Figure A1: Ad hoc enterprise – bottom-up strategy
At first, there is the reality that most enterprises are a little chaotic and though they may aim to be more organised, they often make a mess in the pursuit of digital effectiveness. Strategy is often generated bottom-up. If the ultimate goal is becoming a digital enterprise, getting there requires rather more organisation.
