7. Challenge 5: Training Team Members to Accomplish Their Assignments
Growing up, I had a dog that followed me everywhere and showered me with love. I called him Roderique the Wonder Dog and I thought him the best dog in the neighborhood. When he was a puppy, I planned how to teach him to shake hands, sit up on his hind legs and beg, and roll over—all the basic tricks.
Roderique the Wonder Dog was always eager to please me but initially he seemed confused about what I wanted him to do. So, I would show him by miming the trick and then speaking the command. As he learned, I rewarded him with treats for doing a trick correctly. Slowly, over time, I trained him to do what I wanted.
