The biggest changes to IT capacity happen as a result of projects that your IT group manages. Many of those projects add new capacity to your environment, and all will use capacity that you are expected to manage. The project will have a focus for a while, but when the mission is accomplished and the dedicated team dissipates, you will be left needing to manage the footprint that the project leaves behind. Fortunately, there are steps you can take during the project that can make managing capacity easier.
