What’s Happening in Front of You

I had been trying to shoot the ice skaters in the park for some time. About an hour had gone by. I had blurred pictures, out-of-focus pictures, overexposed pictures, and was generally not a happy camper.

So I stopped, sat down, and tried to get some perspective on what I was doing. It was obvious to me I wasn’t going to get what I saw. They moved too fast, the light was low, and I was obviously spinning my wheels.

I thought, “Let’s rest a while and figure out if I should continue or not.” Gradually, I began to realize what was happening in front of me. The rink glass was icy and the light and color on it was exciting.

I sat quietly, no longer running around to capture moving skaters, and enjoyed what was presented ...
