1. Setting Up iTunes and Your iPod

iTunes and the iPod are very closely related. There has to be music in iTunes before you can have it on your iPod.

This chapter helps you install the latest version of iTunes and gives you a quick intro to the windows you’ll see most often in the software. Then we do the same for the iPod: make sure you have the current version of the software needed to use the iPod, help you set up your iPod, and introduce you to the iPod’s main menu.

Neither installation nor updating is particularly tricky, but sometimes it helps to get a bit more explanation of what you’re doing and why.
