Numbers presents an interesting contrast between the Mac OS and iOS versions. The iOS version uses the various keyboards built into iOS, but the Mac version (no surprise here!) uses the regular Mac keyboard along with a variety of context-sensitive commands on the interface. Beneath these two distinct interfaces, the documents function the same way with minor exceptions.

The template used to illustrate the Mac features is the Financials template on Numbers for Mac. You can create a document from that template and then use iCloud, iWork.com, iTunes sharing, or e-mail to move it to an iOS device and continue with the Mac example shown in this chapter.

Because the interfaces for cell data entry and formulas are so different, the iOS and Mac versions of numbers are described separately. The iOS version is described in this chapter, and the OS X version is described in Chapter 16.
