In the first two chapters, we talked about web services and J2EE. To develop and deploy web services with J2EE, you need an application server platform. The platform should support J2EE components and the web services specifications of XML, SOAP, and WSDL. The BEAs WebLogic Platform is a widely used application platform suite. BEA WebLogic Platform combines a rich web services framework with a service-oriented development model to enable Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). This chapter describes how the BEAs WebLogic Platform supports the building and deployment of J2EE components and web services.
