The Message
The focus of the discussion group system is the manipulation of messages posted to various discussion groups. These messages are tracked in the system using information about the user that entered the message, the date the message was entered, and the type and category of the message. This information about the message is used to store, manipulate, and sort the message when it is output on the message review pages.
Each message has a message type and message category. The valid message types and categories can be defined for a particular installation of the message system so that different installations of the message system can be used to track different types of messages.
