When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
9.2. Are There Any Next Frontiers?
So far, we have seen many new technology innovations emerge. The technology trends and Open Standards are evolving speedily. Honestly speaking, it would be extremely difficult to predict what comes after the current Web Services technology. Nevertheless, we can better manage these changes by understanding the rapid “delta” of these specifications and the new APIs that are published under standards bodies such as W3C and OASIS. Based on these new specifications, we can identify three major technology areas, which may be called the “Next Frontiers” of Web Services technology: convergence of Web Services standards, wireless Web Services, and open source software and standards.
