Chapter 8. More About Search – Search Trees and Hash Tables

In the previous chapters, we had a look at both binary search and trees. In this chapter, we will see how they are related and how this helps us create some more flexible, searchable data structures. We will also look at a different kind of searchable structure called a hash table. The reason for using these structures is that they allow mutation and still remain searchable. Basically, we need to be able to insert and delete elements from the data structures with ease while still being able to conduct a search efficiently. These structures are relatively complicated, so we need to take a step-by-step approach toward understanding it.
