It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 12. Field Management
JDO provides interfaces that allow you to have some control over the
management of the fields in a persistent class, including their access and
storage. In addition, you can specify how a field with a null value is handled if the underlying
datastore does not support null values.
JDO metadata controls many of these field-management capabilities.
