Basic UDDI

Like many other Web services protocols, UDDI is a layer on top of SOAP, as shown in Figure 9.1.

Just like the phone book, UDDI has two main users: clients and publishers. A publisher is a company that offers Web services—in the phone book analogy, it's someone who publishes his or her number in the book. A client is someone who is searching for a Web service—the person thumbing through the phone book. Figure 9.2 shows the high-level view of the UDDI world.
