In this chapter you'll learn about JAX-RPC, the Java API for XML-based RPC. JAX-RPC is one of the XML APIs for Java and it promises to simplify writing Web services.

Note, however, that at the time of writing, JAX-RPC was still very early in its development cycle. This chapter presents what you are likely to find in the final version of JAX-RPC.
