Once you have a new field configuration scheme set up, you will be able to add mapping between field configurations and issue types. For each field configuration scheme, one issue type can be mapped to only one field configuration, while each field configuration can be mapped to multiple issue types. The following screenshot shows that the issue types, Epic, Story, and Task, all have specific field configurations applied, and that the Default Field Configuration will be applied to all other issue types that are not explicitly mapped, such as Bug:
