Introduction

The objective of this edited volume is to show how job quality is shaped by different kinds of flexibility practices and also show workers’ strategies to cope with internal and external pressures for flexibility in workplaces, professions and sectors. The overarching aim is to describe how and explain why job quality is affected or influenced by different strategies for flexibility.

The general research overview on flexibility and job quality presented in the introductory chapter of this volume shows that for several decades we have been experiencing an era of flexibility. ...
