15. Joomla! Languages Explained

In Chapter 14, “Joomla Users Explained,” you saw a new feature in Joomla 1.6: You can create your own access controls.

In this chapter you see another new feature: the ability to run your site in more than one language. Visitors can click a button and change from one language to another.

It’s worth noting something important before we begin:

• Joomla translates the default text such as Log In, Log Out, Create an Account, and Forgot Your Password in the visitors area and Global Configuration, Article Manager, Components, and Extension Manager in the administrator area.

• Joomla does not automatically translate text you enter. Joomla allows you to type in English, Spanish, and Chinese versions of your articles, but ...
