Chapter 2. Getting Started

The benefit of a web content management system, such as Joomla, is that all the code is handled for you as you enter content, build modules, enable components, and add navigation. Anyone familiar with computers, the web, and software applications can create a complete, interactive web site that displays in any standards-compliant browser without knowing a single line of code.

You create and manage your web site through what is called the administrative back end. Only super administrators, administrators, and managers can access the back end of the web site. All other users access the web site from the front end and can only add, edit, or delete content when you provide permission (see Chapter 8, “Engaging Your Users”). ...
