Chapter 9. Creating Joomla Templates
The template system in Joomla is one of the main reasons, we believe, that Joomla is gaining so rapidly in popularity. If you are not comfortable with HTML and CSS, there are hundreds of free and commercial templates available for download. For those knowledgeable about HTML and CSS, this chapter shows you how to use a standard web site design and change it into a Joomla template.
The Joomla template system is self-contained in its own folder structure, which keeps presentation and content separate. You don’t need to alter the content in any way to make the new template work; simply change a few position settings, and the site is ready for the public.
