Business model canvas
The big picture
The business model canvas as introduced by Alex Osterwalder (2010) describes the possible rationale of how an organisation creates, delivers and preserves value. It provides a canvas to describe, visualise, develop and explore business models. On the basis of nine basic building blocks, one can see at a glance how a company does its business and earns money. The model is highly visual and shows how the building blocks interlock. It provides a common language to discuss current and (potential) future business models.
