It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The big picture
Henderson and Venkatraman’s strategic alignment model maps the relationships between the firm’s strategy and IT, and between operations and the IT infrastructure. It helps to assess the alignment of the IT strategy with the business strategy. The model distinguishes two dimensions:
- The strategic fit – the degree to which the internal organisational infrastructure and processes are in harmony with the external strategy.
- The functional integration – the degree to which the IT-related technological planning and business planning are aligned.
