So far, this book has been operating under the assumption that you are initiating the modernization effort at your organization. We’ve considered strategy that assumes you’re on-site to do the planning in the first place. The organization might have attempted to modernize before you were employed there, but I’ve assumed that the current modernization effort is something you started. However, most modernization efforts I’ve been involved with in my career have not looked like this. Organizations tend to underestimate the amount of work and level of investment modernization requires.
