Huzzah! Your idea has made it through two rounds of feedback. You've had a strong collaborative process. Now you are ready for completion! But don't get too excited yet. You still need to be vigilant to get this project good and done, not just done.
Don't Let Perfect Get in the Way of Great
Getting items to completion is my secret sauce. In my industry, ideas often get bogged down in too much feedback or abandoned at the last minute. My professional colleagues usually draw out the process for too long, casually missing deadlines or being indecisive about those final details.
This drives me nuts! I want to see all the energy put into a product that is useful to other people. It needs to serve its purpose of changing the world. Let it go out the door.
We worked with an organization that let their staff be roadblocks to completion. People were being too precious with word choice. The team changed the purpose of the project at the end. Their planning process was in shambles.
We swooped in and helped get the project to the completion line. We verified the project's purpose, gave our two cents on how to make it perfect, and got it over the finish line. Having a fresh set of eyes helped, but it was also critical to get it done. The products helped the organization get media attention and met all its goals.
Ideas need to be done to serve their purpose. Don't let perfect get in the way of great.
