About the Author

Alan Fish is an authority on the use of business rules and predictive analytics for decision management. His innovations in this field include new methodologies for decision service analysis, design and development, including the technique of Decision Requirements Analysis (DRA). His background in psychology, statistics, and artificial intelligence allows him to combine human expertise, predictive analytics, and business rules in adaptive decision-making systems.

Alan has been building decision-making systems for 30 years and has been responsible for many significant projects at the forefront of current technology. He has worked in many diverse domains over this time, including defense, robotics, industrial process control, government, utilities asset management, insurance, and retail credit originations.

Alan is currently principal consultant in Decision Solutions with FICO, working in Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Previously, he was the managing director of a small consultancy specializing in applications of rule-based systems and data mining, which he ran for 12 years. Before that he was employed as a consultant in artificial intelligence and human factors by a number of international IT systems companies. He holds a BSc in psychology and a PhD in neural networks, both from the University of Manchester.
