Fluid Dynamics in Microfluidic Circuits

7.1    INTRODUCTION

This is the first chapter of the third part; the part devoted to labs on chip design methods. Several different techniques have to converge in the design of such systems that are characterized by their multidisciplinary nature. Synthesis between exigencies of different technologies in order to optimize the whole system is perhaps the most difficult part of the design.

In this chapter, we will deal with the design of the microfluidic circuit embedded in the lab on chip. This is somehow the core of the chip, where the solutions containing reactants are purified and concentrated and the key assays are performed.
