Chapter 8. Real-Time Control of Electrical Machines

This chapter introduces real-time control of selected electrical machines using LabVIEW programming and custom-built hardware. The real-time control of electrical machines requires a significant amount of processing power. However, this chapter aims to provide fully functional LabVIEW user interfaces and primarily targets limited power data acquisition hardware available from National Instruments.

Custom-built hardware significantly reduces the need for processing power of the data acquisition (DAQ) card. The details of the hardware are all included in the Appendix for potential developers.
