Do Your Detective Work
No job ad or lead from a friend is going to include all the information to answer all your questions. You’re going to have to do some work on your own.
This detective work can be time-consuming, but it’s a fantastic investment. If your research turns up a nugget of information that lets you tailor the interview exactly to the needs of the company and you land the job because of it, that’s a huge payoff. If, on the other hand, you discover something horrifying that saves you from pursuing a job that would have had you running screaming after two weeks, that’s an even bigger payoff.
