As I discussed in Where the Jobs Are, other people are the most helpful tool you have to finding your next job. Maintaining a solid network of contacts, of people who are willing to help you out, may be as important as any other area of self-improvement. You might have the best skills, but they’re not much good if you can’t find the job you want. A good network will help you find the job you want and sometimes even get hired.
