Over the coming years enterprise-scale solutions will be impacted by a wide variety of new developments in software, hardware, and related technologies. These include at least the following:
Continued improvements in hardware price/performance, together with miniaturization of hardware devices, is leading toward greater use of handheld devices, Internet appliances, and wearable computers.
Significant advances in the communications infrastructure that will revolutionize distributed computing platforms in use toward pervasive broadband high-throughput networks.
