This section examines the configuration of a large ISP network, ISPnet. As shown in Figure 16-47, the network consists of multiple regional distribution networks scattered across the country, and connected by a mixture of point-to-point ATM and POS WAN links.
For convenience, only a few of the regional networks are shown, and the details of only two—San Francisco (SFO) (see Figure 16-48) and Los Angeles (LAX) (see Figure 16-49)mdash;are diagrammed. Each regional network has its own subdomain of ISPnet: Therefore, they are named sfo.ISPnet, lax.ISPnet, dvr.ISPnet, and so on.
