Mr. Rogers, Chespirito, Celia Cruz, and Ropa Vieja.

All of this formed part of my childhood growing up in our humble apartment in Queens, New York, in the 1980s. Media and culture have always held a very important place in my heart, and it is with great pride and appreciation that I am happy to bring some of these experiences that mark our America to future generations.

My mother was born in Camajuani, Cuba, a small town a few hours away from Havana, and my father was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In our house, my brother, sister, and I spoke Spanish and watched mostly Spanish-language television.
