Ethical Use of Assessments in Coaching
Objectives
This chapter explores the issues associated with using assessments in coaching. There are many assessment tools on the market today; therefore, the savvy coach needs to be aware of the range of tools available, and to know when and how to use them appropriately.
A variety of ethical issues revolves around the use of assessments. Consequently, one must have training and corresponding credentials to purchase and use many high-quality assessment tools. Becoming qualified to use an assessment tool often requires successful completion of a certification program or even more extensive education and training. Continued learning and practice are necessary to become an expert with any assessment tool.
