7.10. Schema Data Management
A directory schema is a set of object class and attribute type definitions. The LDAP server uses this information to assure that the data stored in the directory is in accordance with these rules or to determine if and how an existing entry can be modified. The schema definitions are stored in files separate from the directory data that is stored in the underlaying relational database. Schema file management must be done carefully to get a reliable functionality of LDAP without corrupted data. This section explains the rootDSE and the files that are used by the IBM SecureWay Directory to store configuration and schema information.
