Start Being Before You Start Doing
It is difficult, in fact nearly impossible, to see yourself as you are. However, knowing the particular positive qualities that underscore your leadership effectiveness is what allows them to shine through in all that you do. As a leader, you must be rigorously introspective and at the same time open to feedback in order to develop a clear picture of who you are and how others experience you—what I like to call your signature presence. Just as we all have a unique way of signing our names, we all create a unique signature as leaders. Your signature presence is the unique suite of leadership assets that make you you.
