The importance of values is frequently declared throughout organizations, societies, civic organizations, schools, families, and faith-based communities. Undoubtedly, some of the interest in values is generated by the scandal of the day—breeches of trust by individuals, organizations, and societal institutions. Too often, there is a lack of adherence to the pronounced values. Financial scams, known product defects, political deceptions, and criminal collusion undermine our organizational and societal foundations.
