As part of the process for a consulting engagement that shall remain anonymous, Dustin interviewed an organization’s entire executive team.

In every conversation, each member from the executive team asked: “Have you spoken to the senior VP yet?” Let’s call that senior VP Joe.

Each time, Dustin replied in the negative, because, as it happened, Joe was one of the last on his list.

Finally, the day arrived when Dustin met with Joe for his interview.

“Dustin, I know you’re probably a nice guy and what you do is really good, but it won’t work here,” Joe said.
