This book is the result of a long journey of exploring the various competencies needed to effectively lead in the twenty-first century. It started 8 years ago with the work GE was doing in China on middle management development and then evolved as GE assessed its overall set of needed global leadership competencies. I used my experiences at GE as the foundation of my notion of LeaderocityTM. As noted earlier, we are not suggesting this is THE list of needed competencies.
