Ability to immerse yourself in unfamiliar environments, to learn from them in a first-person way.

IN 1997, DR. SCOTT DYE had both of his own healthy knees “inspected” without anesthetic (that is, cut open and probed for pain sensitivity by an orthopedic colleague).
