Three Leaders and How They Found Their Feet

Leadership is growth, and it develops one step at a time. Start people low and slow on the ladder, and support them from rung to rung. Very near the top they will find their own grip.

In this chapter, the focus changes from a broad view of organizational leadership to individual leaders within a particular organizational context and culture. Prototypes are presented of three senior leaders introduced in previous chapters who have transcended the cultural barriers to leadership in their respective organizations and the wider community. Each represents a typical life history with respect to leadership.
