Blind Dating as a Career Booster

It amazes me that in these days of high-pressure headhunters and vast Web sites that list thousands of job openings, people continue to find some of the very best jobs by being open to an occasional blind date. The kind of blind date to which I am referring is vocational, not social. I realize that most people do not consider blind dating a critical part of executive career development. For some the words blind date conjure up romantic memories of an exciting new relationship. For others the phrase revives suppressed flashbacks of evenings, engineered by well-meaning intermediaries, gone unbelievably bad.
