In my teenage years working on a ranch, part of my job was to clean out the barn twice a day. It was filled with horses, hogs, a few head of cattle, and way too many chickens. The temperature inside the barn was normally above 80 degrees. During my first few days on the job, I could stand the smell for only a few minutes before I had to rush outside and gasp for fresh air. With each passing day, however, I found I could hang in there for longer and longer periods of time.
